Steadyworks

Research Intern

San Francisco, CA

Run a self-contained research project on evaluations, agent workflows, or RL environments.

About Steadyworks

Steadyworks is a data research lab powering the next generation of AI. We partner with frontier AI labs to build expert-grade datasets, reinforcement learning environments, and evaluation infrastructure that improve state-of-the-art models. Our team previously built frontier AI systems at Meta, Google Research, Autodesk, and other leading organizations.

What you'll work on

Interns take on a well-scoped research project with a clear artifact — an evaluation suite, a study of an agent workflow, or a new environment format — with weekly mentorship from a founder.

  • Designing and running evaluations against frontier models
  • Prototyping RL environments in a domain you know well
  • Investigating agent failure modes and writing up findings
  • Contributing to a paper or public writeup where the work warrants it

We're looking for someone who

  • Is a current or recent student in ML, CS, or a related field, or an early-career researcher
  • Has hands-on experience with LLMs, agents, or RL — coursework, projects, or prior internships
  • Writes clearly and can distill an experiment into a crisp result

Logistics

  • In-person in San Francisco preferred; strong remote candidates considered
  • Minimum 10-week commitment; longer preferred
  • Paid
